So, I'm a control freak. I have a hard time letting my kids mix colors and splatter paint all over the place. I found these old poster/foam boards last night and told myself
"tomorrow will be the day that I let the boys do what they want." I stayed true to my words, but it was really hard for me to let them run around, dump out the paint, mix the colors to a pukey purple shade, etc. But, I did it . . . for about 20 minutes . . . and then we were done. I was way too stressed. Aaaaah! When am I going to be able to let go?!
All in all it was a good time. I did enjoy seeing them have so much fun. I loved watching them use their bodies and imaginations in creative ways. I'm really trying hard to hand over the reigns and let them do what they want for their projects. This is a start at least.

This is right after I caught Spencer running on the carpet with painted feet. Poor guy, he was having so much fun. Seems the weather had nothing to do with our "rainy" day. I'm afraid
I'm the damper.

One day I'm going to be able to say,
"It doesn't matter what happens . . . this is so fun!" One day . . .

It looks like the boys had a great time. It's good to know I'm not the only controlling mom. Your amazing for letting go, I don't even have play dough for my boys. They get to color with crayons for excitement. I would have had to put myself in a long timeout had I done that. WAY TO GO! Your boys are so big it's crazy that we have kids that are getting so old.
p.s. how are you feeling?
Yea for you!!! It looks like the boys had a good time. And for you I think you'd better treat yourself...check my blog - I just posted a place that has Vegan cupcakes. I think you'll feel better about things once your little one (meaning #3) gets big enough to join the fun - and you have a bigger place! Great pics by the way.
ha ha, sooo fun! how come you didn't invite me over?!? joking. you are such a fun mom.. so how much time did it take you to clean it all up?! the pictures look great and the boys look like they had a ball! don't do it too much cause it will become the "norm" and spencer will start requesting finger painting in nursery at church too. ahhhh!? i feel like i have my hands full with nursery as it is... lol
You are the coolest mom EVER. Seriously, I remember once I was doing the dishes when I was younger and I accidentally put dishwashing soap into the dishwasher instead of dishWASHER soap. Anyway the entire kitchen floor was covered in suds and I of course got in huge trouble.
Well, and then later on in my teen years I learn that this happened to one of my friends as well, but instead of her getting in trouble, her mom joined in with her and her brothers and they had a soap suds fight in the kitchen and were laughing and making a huge mess. I decided I wanted to be like HER mom.
Not that I don't love my mom - she is the best. ;)
I know the feeling - I'm always fine with making a mess... OUTSIDE. :)
And congratulations on cutting Spencer's mullet. :)
Your kids are SO CUTE! And this is a great idea! i need to try this with Justin and Nadya too. You are a great mom, I hope you know it . :)
Olya
You are awesome...seriously!
I think you should put that art work up! That way they remember that one day when mom was soooooo cool that she let us paint in our underwear. That is awesome.
veronica, thanks for subbing for nursery last minute. how did it go?!?!
are you getting excited for b to come home? i am counting down the days!!!!
see you soon
You're a better mom than I am! I might not be a control freak but I'm a clean freak and all that paint would make me crazy so good for you! I loved the bathtub shots - see the clean freak in me - I like to see them getting clean again!
