Who eats more? Wish I could say Brian, b/c he eats larger portions per meal, but I bet over the coarse of the day we're either about the same, or maybe I eat more.....oh no, I don't EVEN want to find out!

Who said I love you first? I really wanted to, and I think I did, but it really may have been Brian since I don't think I would have let myself be that vulnerable.

Who is taller? Brian, by about 4-5 inches

Who sings better? I'd like to say me, b/c I was in choir and I know how to read music, but Brian carries a tune better.

Who is smarter? Definitely Brian, why do you think he's the one at MIT! And he just loves to learn. All the studying he does has nothing to do with getting a good grade, he genuinely loves to learn and so will study or read for hours on end!

Whose temper is worse? I'd say we're about the same, but over all he maintains his better than I do!

Who does the laundry? We both do

Who does the dishes? Mostly me, but we both do

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? facing the bed, Brian

Who mows the lawn? What lawn? Wish we had one of our own.

Who drives when you are together? Mostly Brian, but sometimes I take the wheel

Who is more stubborn? I'd have to say we're about equal

Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? we both do

Whose parents do you see the most? Mine

Who proposed? Brian begs to differ, but it was totally me. You decide...."Brian, I won't regret not serving my mission if you marry me." He did "formally" propose though, so I guess it's a tie.

Who has more friends? Used to be me, but now it's probably Brian b/c of the 72 study groups he meets with and and the 57 functions he attends each month.

Who has more siblings? we both have 4 siblings, but he has more brothers

Who wears the pants in the family? I'd like to say we're equal, but lets face it, I pretty much don't do things unless I have his permission first. So, I'd have to say Brian. As far as the kids are concerned, I totally wear the pants, and probably make Brian feel awkward sometimes by telling him what to do. After all, he is the one at MIT.......

One more thing....

After re-reading my post I had a thought. After watching "Evan Almighty", Brian and I talked a bout one of the lessons we learned from it. Hey, good things can come from Hollywood. After Evan's wife leaves with the kids she is approached by what she thinks is a waiter in a restaurant, who is really God in the movie, and after talking for a minute with God about her prayer He tells her, "When you pray for patience, do you think God just gives you patience, or do you think he gives you opportunities to be patient?" "When you pray to become closer as a family, do you think He makes you closer, or gives you opportunities to grow closer?" (All paraphrased...)

So, when I said at the end of my post that I wish I could just learn my lessons and move on, that's what I was referring to. It's powerful and motivating, but harder said than done, as always. I just want to learn patience and move on, you know, have the experiences, learn from them and then have my kids obey from then on! I know it doesn't work this way, a lot of times b/c we need growth, a lot of times b/c everyone has their own agency. It was just a great lesson to learn, in a way I haven't learned it before. God will give me opportunities to be a good mom, be patient, learn to discipline with love and boundaries, etc. But, I must embrace those opportunities in order for this to work. That's where my flaw lies. I recognize the opportunities, I'm just often too tired to angry to practice that patience... Anyway, had to throw that in there.

update to the update

Well, I just got back from my first prenatal visit and found out I'm only 7 1/2 weeks. That stinks! ugh. Now I actually have longer than I thought to endure my sickness! It's a rough life, but the coolest was that I got to see the baby in the ultrasound today! More like I got to see the little heart beat in the middle of a little mass. It was so precious. It really makes me appreciate that I'm the one that gets to carry the baby. So, that's that!

Time for an update

I agree, it's time for an update. Here it is: I'm pregnant and really sick and don't feel well enough to rummage through pictures and make another post. Good news: I'm 9 weeks along, should only have about 7 more sick weeks to go, if it lasts as long as my other pregnancies. This is my third, for those who don't know. Other good news: We've taken pictures of our apartment, and I will post them soon. When I'm having a good moment. Thanks for being patient!

The Cliff Walk at Newport Beach

As you can see, this is a beautiful place. And yes, we carried the stroller over those rocks. No one mentioned there would be a 100 yard section of the walk that was only rocks . . . big rocks! Yikes. We realized, about 70 feet into carring the stroller, with the boys in it, that we could take the boys out and push the stoller by itsself. You might ask, "well, why didn't you do that in the first place?" The answer is: those rocks were huge, with big spaces in between, and slippery. We were afraid to let the boys walk. Brian decided to be the macho man and carry the boys while I pushed the stroller. :) What a man...

Our new location

Hey all! We totally live in the same complex. We were just subleasing for the summer :) So, we moved 1 stairwell over, and it's actually a much nicer, newer-romodeled apartment. We love having closet space (now that we aren't living with someone else's belongings). Anyway, hope that clears up everything! :)

Stay posted . . . I'm too tired tonight, we just finished moving yesterday, we settled today and had 3 couples and their kids over for dinner tonight! (They helped out with the move) Whew, it's been a great week with lots of great memories, I'm sad to go back to real life, but shortly I'll post pictures, I promise. It might take a few days, seeing as my computer memory is totally full and we had to save pictures on Brian's laptop. So, as soon as I can, I'll post! :)

Friday Night, Soccor Night

There are so many great things about the LFM program, one of which is the camaraderie gained between classmates by playing sports with each other. There are so many different sports, bbqs and get-togethers outside of class, it's hard to choose how many we can be involved in without jeopardizing our family relationship!

Brian chose Soccer.

Every Friday night after finishing group work, lots of the LFMr's joined together for a fun, not-too-competetive game!

Often the boys would join in and all the players would let them make goals, kick the ball around and such. They were super fun and cool about it!

And this particular game I captured a great picture of Brian playing his soccer BEST. So Fun and I'm glad to have these memories!

So, in my meager attempts to keep the kids out of the Big Boy game, we practice with their balls on the side.

National Night out at the Zoo

As quoted by Wikipedia:

National Night Out is a community-police partnership held the first Tuesday of every August since 1984 sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch in the U.S. and Canada. It aims to increase awareness about police programs in communities, such as drug prevention, town watch, and other anti-crime efforts. Initially communities held lights-on vigils. Now, many communities hold block parties, festivals and other events to help bring neighbors together.

So, Boston was holding this night at the Franklin Zoo. At first I was reluctant to go, b/c Brian wasn't able to, and I had to take the kids by myself, and drive and try to follow directions in this twisted city with no help. Alas, I buckled up and and decided to power on. This event was to last from 5-8 pm. I left at 5:30--directions said it was a few miles away, taking no more than 16 minutes with traffic. Well, not far, I can handle this! Needless to say, I took several wrong turns and ended up on the other side of Boston and got totally lost. And hour and a half later we arrived.

Fliers said there would be free food and entertainment. We arrived just in time for them to close the lines. Darnit, Lance was REALLY hungry. I asked about all the vendors--CLOSED. Hmmm. Nowhere to stop on the way home, this was bound to be a long night!

I kept trying to distract him, but with the pungent odor of cheese in the air how could he forget?

Good grief!

I guess that's what an 800 pound block of cheese smells like!

Lance was really intrigued by the elephant remains. He made up his own story and told me to tell him it was true! Gotta love those kids' imaginations! :D

Because everything was closed, and Lance really couldn't get his mind off of food, we decided to head out.

Seeing as dinner wasn't available, we hit up an ice cream truck on the way out! Spiderman to the rescue! (Didn't last long though, darnit!)

Playdough Day

Because preschool is so expensive around here, and I'm too late to register (apparently there's a year waiting list . . . ) I've decided to do different activities each day. Most of the time we play outside, because the weather is nice and we want to utilize the time we have before winter hits. I really like the idea of having certain activities on certain days. For example: Monday playdough day, Tuesday painting day, Wednesday library day, Thursday Water Park day, etc. You get the idea. So, here are some of our pictures of playdough day. We made our own dough, but the colors didn't last long! (It's a big heap of brown now!) HAHA

PHOTOSHOP!

So, I just looked on the Internet for photoshop. I thought I would try my hand at editing and make some fun creations with the average pictures I take. I'm totally an amateur, no pro here. Apparently photoshop is not for me! I had no idea it was going to be $650-1,000 just for the program! I was reading about it, it looks really complicated too! That's totally pro material, not for me . . .

Anyway, I'm still looking for a program if anyone has any suggestions. Something for an average Joe, way less pricey than photoshop, but still performs well, considering . . . .

Any suggestions?!

Artesani Water Park

We love all the parks around here. I didn't believe, before I moved here, that the Boston area catered so much to children. Everywhere we go there are incredible parks. I'll have to post pictures of our favorite park sometime later, we didn't have a camera at the time we were there. But, this is our most recent Saturday adventure. The great thing is, all of these parks are FREE! The kids had a blast.

When we first arrived, everyone was out of the pool. We were told they were doing a "pool check." Well, Lance was waiting very patiently.

Once they opened the pool, Lance jumped right in and started holding his breath!

And this is Lance telling me to move back so he could swim to me. H held his breath under water and swam to me! I was really excited, b/c we haven't taught him how to do that. He's just teaching himself.
